Where I am now
My work has moved through finance, technology, music and writing. I do not think of them as separate lives. The same question keeps showing up in different forms: what is really happening beneath the surface, and what should I do once I can see it more clearly?
Today I am Managing Director of Business Development at Shot Tower Capital, the founder of VXchange, and the author of The Empathic Art of War.
The path here
I grew up learning to pay attention before I had language for why. At nine, my mother gave me The Money Game. Years later I served in the United States Army and deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
After the Army, I entered financial services. My career took me through Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley and UBS, including discretionary portfolio management and work with people in sports and entertainment. I later moved into music and entertainment advisory at Shot Tower Capital.
The Empathic Art of War
The Empathic Art of War was first published in October 2024 and revised in October 2026. Its subtitle is Empathy for Me and None for Thee. It is available as a Kindle edition, a paperback, and an audiobook on Spotify.
The book is about empathy as a way of seeing more accurately, and about the harder work of applying that same attention to yourself. Understanding someone can remain even when the obligation to keep absorbing their choices does not.
Norfolk State
I am a Norfolk State University alumnus. In 2023 the university named the Verrecchia-DeLonde Sports Performance Simulator in recognition of a family gift, and the athletics program continued to reference the facility in 2026.
